Daily Spotlight- Anderson

Few people deserve to be spotlighted more than Danny Anderson. He is, as the young folks would say, a BFF. I met Anderson toward the end of my mission. Our mission president told us that we could serve together as long as we would work out every morning, play Tony Hawk Pro Skater, and go to all the Cut Bank High School basketball games. Above is a picture of an actual day care center in Great Falls Montana that we still laugh about to this day. Since I didn't know anybody in Utah and we went home on the same day, we just kept hanging out. Anderson has done a great many things in his life including playing bass for mug refill, keeping Blackbeards golf at the Fun Dome in business for a year, and introducing me to the loo. I could go on and on about how great Anderson is but it would take way too long. So I'll just talk about the best thing he has ever done.

Anderson helped to develop and enforce a completely objective way to rate girls on Hot or Not. com. When Hot or Not hit the scene somewhere around 2002, it was all too common for people to just keep the mouse over the 7 and click as soon as the page would load to cover more ground. Not Anderson. The way he saw it, if people were going to go so far as to solicit feedback regarding their hotness, they shouldn't be denied. We would sometimes spend minutes at a time on the same 2 megapixel jpeg of a girl in a Roxy shirt at a flattering angle until we could come to a solid consensus. Anderson would never throw out a 10 just because a girl was blonde or she had "Toronto Maple Leafs" in the keywords. In fact, the guy never gave out a 10. Theoretically, there should only be one 10 and one 1 and neither was going to be on Hot or Not. Just as a tangent, the rating system would go on to screw me over with an ex-girlfriend once. She bugged me for like 15 minutes until I would rate her on looks alone. I went on to give her an 11 and never felt so dirty in my life. But I digress. Anderson isn't a shallow guy at all. He's just a perfectionist. And he has changed my life for the better.

P.S. If you want to see Anderson's masters thesis on Hot or Not ranking, check out is blog. It's definitely worth the read.

I give that spotlight an 8... it would have got a nine but the picture was of two people and I knew you wanted to Microsoft Paint in an arrow and above it would say, "ME!" Still that's a good score, congratulations.

Man, you'd have been hard pressed to find a more stand-up gentleman to spotlight.
