Daily Spotlight- Brian Pitt

The hardest part about spotlighting someone you know so much about is deciding where the focus should be. Everybody has a million spotlight worthy quirks, but I am usually shallow enough to identify a person by the first couple weird things I notice and move on. When someone is your brother it's not so easy. So lets explore the intricacies of the one they call Brian Pitt.
The first thing that makes anybody laugh about Brian, is his non-changing face. I think that in the near future, I might have to introduce a new feature to my blog called "How old was Brian?". Yeah, I am going to do that. But seriously, his face has never changed after about 2 months. One of mine and Danny's favorite things about Bubba is his need to adopt a weird hobby out of nowhere, beat it to death for a few months, and then move on to another one. Darts, pool, yo-yos, magic, hiking, fooseball, tennis...just anything. It's just bizarre. Nothing has been or will be invented without Brian being hardcore into it for a few months. Like in the darts days, he would come home with the nicest dart tips you can buy. And he knows it because he researched it for hours. In the Texas hold em era, he would have to get the chips with the regulation weight. And then just when you think he is going overboard on something, he just kind of forgets about it and moves on to the next weird thing, never to revisit the old one again.
Out of all the kids in the family, Brian was always the one hustling. Out with his wagon full of soda at the construction site at age 12, selling drinks to save up for his lightning TRS's, building his customer base of 7 year olds who would buy the lizards he caught in the desert, buying candy at Costco to re-sell at school...he was ambitious then and now.
Brian loves nothing more than to act pissed off when you tell a hilarious joke. Very few courtesy laughs have ever been dealt by this character so when the smile does actually crack, you know you struck gold.
It's hard to cap off a spotlight with one solid reflection when you are so close to someone, but one of the best and worst things about Brian is how long he has carried out "the voice". I'm on the fence even talking about the voice, but I've already started it so what the hell. Its so humiliating and I have started to delete this 3 times already, but here it is. My blog is supposed to be insightful so why not? I'm officially making this way too long.
Sometime around when Danny left on his mission, Brian started this thing where he would talk to me in a voice that sounded like a cross between a mexican stereo-type and the Godfather. It wasn't just the inflection that made it retarded, he would shorten words, make up words, just talk like an idiot. And the thing is, I take full credit for not letting it die, but it was Brian that started it. Period. I'm not exaggerating when I say that in the past 5 years, and only when no one else is around, we have spoken in "the voice" more than we have spoken the normal way.
The voice has evolved into something that's not even a conscious thing anymore. The accent has evolved and faded away a little bit, but the code is as strong as ever. If I get a text saying "were el going to the?" I know what he's asking. Suddenly "maybe el were a waste of" is a complete sentence. I know exactly what it means. It doesn't even seem stupid. I'm going to stop talking about the voice now because I'm just embarrassing myself. It's not funny and I'm pretty sure nobody gets it but us, Danny, and Guido.
In summation, Brian is one of the greatest people I know. Brian, I'm sorry your spotlight ended in such a disastrous way. But I actually published a nice picture, a first in our relationship.
P.S. His response to this post was "el were great"

Let me just say that I honestly thought it would be months before I was spotlighted. This is a great honor. Let me just say this about today's spotlight... "el no were a waste of." Gratz kiddies.
